Ripa Teatina welcomes the twentieth edition of the “Rocky Marciano” Festival
Ripa Teatina, a picturesque jewel in the hills of Abruzzo in the province of Chieti, is preparing to welcome the twentieth edition of the Rocky Marciano Festival, an event that celebrates the legacy of one of the greatest boxers of all time, American by birth but of Abruzzo origin (his father Quirino Marchegiano was from Ripa Teatina). This year, the festival promises to be more exciting than ever, always focusing on sport, culture and local traditions.

Since 1983, the “Rocky Marciano” Festival has offered a rich program of events for sports and boxing lovers, but not only: for several years it has established special events and awards in other artistic categories such as the Rocky Marciano Literary Competition “Stories of Sport”, the Sports Literature Festival coordinated by the Artistic Director Dario Ricci, it brought illustrious Sports Writers, Former Champions and Well-known Journalists of International Fame, and finally a Contemporary Art Exhibition inside the evocative premises of the Porta Gabella Tower. Numerous artists from Abruzzo and beyond exhibit their works every year during the days of the Rocky Marciano Festival.
Since 2005, the “Rocky Marciano” Award has rewarded illustrious sportsmen from Abruzzo and beyond, famous people and successful entrepreneurs, bringing prestige to the Abruzzo Region, so much so that it is considered one of the awards recognized by the Regional Council. Over the years, illustrious personalities such as Valentina Vezzali, Gianni Rivera, Fabio Grosso, Eusebio Di Francesco, Roberto Cammarelle and many others have been awarded and hosted.
