Wine in Abruzzo and its traditions
September and October have always been months of hard work in Abruzzo with the grape harvest completely absorbing farms and families dedicated to the now centuries-old cultivation of grapes and their transformation into wine. In recent years, however, the grape harvest has also taken on a touristic declination, becoming a real social phenomenon, especially for young families who find it of great interest to have their children spend a day learning about traditions and farming but also learning the rudiments of oenological and agronomic techniques that affect the life of a winery, what is now known as an Educational Harvest.
The calendar features a large number of wineries hosting spectators and enthusiasts with themed events, tastings, aperitifs, workshops, and excursions.
Every year hundreds of families experience the harvest at the winery by participating in exciting experiential days made up of grape picking, crushing, peasant lunches, and traditional Abruzzo music and dances.
The periods of activity are mainly autumn and summer.
