Live shows of choral and folk music to celebrate a great Abruzzese personality
The “ Padre Mario Di Pasquale” National Award is an event enhanced by live shows of choral and folk music, and named in memory of the beloved Franciscan friar, who died prematurely in Pescara in 1990. It is a spontaneous and loving act, a recognition for having introduced the culture of four-voice mixed choral singing, during the 70s, to an entire generation of young people, now in their 60s, who lived between Castelvecchio Subequo and Tagliacozzo, Abruzzo. It was precisely in the province of L’Aquila that Father Mario carried out his apostolic mission, taking charge, as well, of directing a folk music choir. The award is given to a regional or national choral director who has distinguished himself or herself in the choral world. The event takes place in the Church of St. Francis of Assisi in Castelvecchio Subequo (AQ) and is an opportunity to attend performances by national and international choirs.
